wilder being
nature. arts. wellbeing.
Over the years I have worked in a range of environments in a variety of roles. This work has previously included being a support worker to adults with learning disabilities in residential care, performing in children's theatre shows and being a learning mentor in further education.
My career has developed in that I have combined my vocational paths in care, education and the arts. I am now established as a freelance arts engagement specialist working creatively with groups from diverse and often marginalised backgrounds. To support this work I have gained qualifications in creative therapy and teaching.
I have delivered a number of freelance arts engagement projects since 2007. Partners include Manchester Action on Street Health, 42nd Street, Tactile Arts, Women Matta, Gorse Hill Studio for young artists, Arts Recovery in the Community, Centrepoint and The Wellspring Kitchen.
Within my current teaching work at Back on Track, Manchester I design and deliver adult courses in basic art, creative writing, drama and wellbeing. In 2014 I created an Art for Wellbeing course ran through Manchester Adult Education Authority for the national HeadsUp programme. Over the last year I have created courses both in nature arts and wellbeing in nature, these have been delivered in both indoor and outdoor locations.

In more recent years I have expanded upon my knowledge, skills and expertise in the areas of wellbeing and psychotherapy. I have qualified as an integrative counsellor gaining 100 hours placement hours through Talk, Listen, Change and Stockport Homes. I have studied, taught and practised mindfulness for a number of years, I have experienced first hand the immense benefits of engaging with our sensory awareness, practising mindful breathing and our ability to come off "auto pilot".
One of the motivating factors behind Wilder Being is my love and affinity for being in nature. I always feel a level of mental, emotional and even spiritual connectedness through immersion in nature. It feels a natural progression for me to venture into "green wellbeing", ecotherapy and nature based arts. I`m excited to continue on my journey into Wilder Being and help others discover the treasures found within the natural world and within themselves.
